Guest Tour: Step Back in Time at the Edison & Ford Winter Estates
Located along the Caloosahatchee River in Fort Myers, FL, the Edison & Ford Winter Estates offer a glimpse into the lives of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. This historic site spans over 20 acres, showcasing their homes, lush gardens, and inventions.

A Walk Through History
Thomas Edison first visited Fort Myers in 1885 and built Seminole Lodge in 1886. He and his family spent winters there for six decades. In 1916, Henry Ford purchased the neighboring estate, The Mangoes. Both homes are preserved with original furnishings, providing an immersive historical experience.

The Gardens and Laboratory
The estates feature over 1,700 plants, including Edison’s banyan and royal palm trees. His research laboratory, where he worked on rubber production, remains a key highlight.
Museum and Exhibits
The museum displays artifacts such as Edison’s early light bulbs and Ford’s Model T, along with interactive exhibits on their achievements.
