Gary Andrew MacDonald, who spent 40 years devoted to the employees, partners, and customers of MacDon, died Oct. 14 after a long battle with a brain disease.
MacDonald joined his family’s business in 1976 and is credited with helping to grow MacDon into a global force in the farm equipment industry.
“His office door always open, Gary Mac lived what he believed,” his obituary said, which is “business isn’t about business, it’s about people.”
Beyond his career, MacDonald is remembered as a standout rugby player, a man who was always ready to strike up the bagpipes, and a community supporter.
“In everything he did, Gary brought a fun-loving attitude and developed meaningful relationships with those around him,” his obituary said.
He is survived by his wife Marg, a son and daughter, three grandchildren, a stepson, three brothers, and other relatives.
