ASABE Adopts Ag Drawbar Jacks Standard
The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) announced the adoption of ASABE/ISO 12140:2013, Agricultural machinery—Agricultural trailers and trailed equipment—Drawbar jacks. Concurrently, ASABE withdrew its corresponding standard, ASAE S485.3, Implement Mounted, Screw-Type Jacks, on which the ISO 12140:2013 is based.
The actions promote harmonization of the national and international standards, a goal that facilitates manufacturing, safety advancements, and product marketing worldwide.
Conformance to ASABE standards is voluntary, except where required by state, provincial, or other governmental requirements, and the documents are developed by consensus in accordance with procedures approved by the American National Standards Institute.
ASABE members with standards access and those with site-license privileges can access the full text of the standard by electronic download from the ASABE online Technical Library at elibrary.asabe.org. Others can obtain a copy for a fee directly from the library or by contacting ASABE headquarters at martin@asabe.org. S
