ASABE Announces Revisions, Updates, New Projects

The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) recently announced:

The completion of ANSI/ASAE S343.4, Terminology for Combines and Grain Harvesting. The revision aligns terminology with currently used practices. The standard contains terminology pertinent to grain combine design and performance, improves communication among engineers and researchers, and provides a basis for comparative listing of machine specifications.

A project to adopt, with deviations, an international standard, ISO 5675:2008, for hydraulic couplers on tractors. The proposed standard, ANSI/ASABE AD5675:2008, Agricultural tractors and machinery — General purpose quick-action hydraulic couplers, will replace ASAE S366.2, Dimensions for cylindrical hydraulic couplers for agricultural tractors.

A project to revise ANSI/ASAE S583, Safety for Agricultural Front Loaders. ANSI/ASAE S583 specifies safety requirements for the design and construction of agricultural front loaders designed to be mounted on agricultural wheeled tractors. The purpose of the revision is to update normative references to include international standards that have been adopted nationally.

A project to revise ANSI/ASAE EP562, Procedure for Determining Recommended Ballast and Minimum Rear Wheel Tread Settings for Agricultural Tractors with Agricultural Front Loaders. Among the revisions to the document will be an update of normative references to current revisions. ANSI/ASAE EP562 is intended as a guide in determining the minimum recommended ballast and tread settings for operation of an agricultural front loader mounted on a two-wheel-drive tractor or a two-wheel-drive tractor with front assist.

A project to revise ANSI/ASABE S625, Pin Dimensions and Requirements for Towed Equipment. The purpose of the revision is to make technical and editorial corrections. These include a revision to values found in Table 1, Drawbar Pin Dimensions and editorial corrections. ANSI/ASABE S625 establishes the dimensional and minimum-strength requirements for agricultural drawbar hitch pins used in the single-point attaching of towed equipment to tractors or other towing equipment.
