ASABE to Revise Ag Machinery Management Data Standard

The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) has initiated a project to revise ASAE D497.5, Agricultural Machinery Management Data. The revision will include the addition of fuel consumption equations developed from recent reports from the Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory. These revised equations are simpler (mathematically) and can be used to demonstrate the fuel saving from gear-up, throttle-down practices. Other additions are the inclusion of partial throttle and fuel consumption adjustment for compression ignition (diesel) engines.
