ASABE To Revise Rotary Mower Blade Ductility Test Standard

The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) has initiated a project to revise the material and safety references cited in its standard for destructive testing of rotary mower blades.

ANSI/ASAE S483.1, Rotary Mower Blade Ductility Test, was revised in November 2005. In the regular periodic review of the document five years later, several outdated references were identified. Expected completion date of the revision is late June 2011.

ASABE is recognized worldwide as a standards developing organization for food, agricultural, and biological systems, with more than 225 standards currently in publication. Conformance to ASABE standards is voluntary, except where required by state, provincial, or other governmental requirements, and the documents are developed by consensus in accordance with procedures approved by the American National Standards Institute.
