Buhler Partners with Kubota in Large Tractor Business

Buhler Industries Inc. announced last week it will partner with Kubota Corporation in the development and production of a new series of tractors in the mid-range front-wheel assist segment.

The same news released from Kubota said the partnership will improve Kubota’s development lead time and optimize “product specifications to meet local requirements.” Kubota also commended Buhler’s “proven track record for designing, manufacturing, and distributing large tractors in North America.”

The agreement enables Kubota to add tractors in a horsepower range greater than its largest 170-horsepower line. Buhler Industries will manufacture this tractor at its factory in Winnipeg, Manitoba, which is home to Buhler’s Versatile lineup.

The tractors will be launched in the United States and Canada in the second half of 2019 as part of Kubota’s strategy to penetrate the North American large tractor market.

Kubota Corporation has been expanding in the farm equipment market in recent years. It’s purchases of Kverneland and Great Plains shows a commitment for greater market share. Ironically, some have observed that the current Kubota tractor line doesn’t feature a model large enough to pull some of that new equipment. With this partnership, that changes.
