Chinese Lecture On Quality Standards

The Los Angeles Times reports that China has rejected almost 546,000 tons of U.S. dried distillers’ grain, a corn by-product, because it contained genetically modified material, according to state run media.

In addition to returning the grain, Chinese authorities are urging American officials to improve their, “inspection procedures to ensure they comply with Chinese quality standards.”

We can’t help but note that this “quality standards” lecture comes from a nation with a rich history of making headlines for reportedly exporting children’s toys layered with lead paint, pet treats laced with melamine, toxic baby formula, tainted pork products, rice contaminated with heavy metals and the reuse of discarded cooking grease nauseatingly known as “gutter oil”.
