Committee Corner: Membership
With the Marketing & Distribution Convention in Minneapolis approaching this fall, the Association’s Membership Committee has focused its work on reaching out to prospective member companies within a 500-mile radius of the Twin Cities.
The Membership Committee is composed of representatives from member companies. Its purpose is to assess the Association’s strategies in member recruitment, develop recruitment promotions, and serve as ambassadors to new members at meetings.
Nick Jensen from Thurston Manufacturing and Tim Burenga from Worksaver are co-chairs of the committee. Jensen said members decided during their meeting in Omaha in April to focus on companies near the site of the fall convention and to enlist the broader membership in finding prospects.
“With the Association offering a free convention registration to new members, this seems to be a natural fit,” Jensen said. “We are working to identify potential regular members, supplier members, and marketing members who have operations within a 500-mile radius of the Twin Cities. And, we welcome help!”
Jensen encourages members with information about companies that could benefit from membership to contact the Association office. Send an email to Sarah@FarmEquip.org, or call (314) 878-2304.
“A strong membership base benefits everyone,” Jensen said. “The greater our numbers, the greater our influence on legislative issues and the greater our opportunities to learn from one another and move the shortline industry forward.”
The Membership Committee is among committees and councils the Association will feature in upcoming issues of Shortliner.
