Don’t Get Burned, Back Up
Sure you backup your computer system on a regular basis but does that include an off-site backup? If your business relies on computer systems for its operations, you should also have an extra off-site system running or ready to turn on in an emergency. Experts recommend that you set up a process to make sure that the data and software on these backup systems are current with your production system so that the switch over will not disrupt business operations.
James Sneeringer, Director of Online Communications for the U.S. Chamber says, “Don’t just trust that these will work. Take the time to test and practice restoring data from a backup or switching to your backup systems. Mid-crisis is no time to be trying things for the first time.” ◆
