Ethanol Drives Record-Setting Grain Export Trend

The U.S. Grains Council says corn exports might be down slightly, but a new record is expected for grain exports.

With only two months of reporting left in the marketing year, the USDA says more than 98 million metric tons of grain in all forms were exported, up 2 percent from a year ago. U.S. Grains Council economist Mike Dwyer says all grain exports might exceed 122 billion bushels and account for 27 percent of worldwide sales.

Corn, grain sorghum, and barley all went down in sales, but gains were made in corn gluten feed and distillers grains. Ethanol exports were huge, accounting for a 21.6 percent increase in exports so far.   Source: Brownfield Ag News
