Executive Charged With Faking Bills
Recent news headlines once again remind us of the potential for employee fraud and embezzlement. No company is immune to this threat, especially during tough economic times. That’s why it’s important to mention our session at the Atlanta Fall Convention: Is Your Company Ripe for Embezzlement? The discussion will be lead by Ed McMillan one of the nation’s leading experts on the topic. This is something you won’t want to miss.
As an example, a recent news headline points to a Purina executive that has been charged with creating fake bills and padding his expenses to steal around $250,000 from the company, according to federal prosecutors. He in turn spent the company’s money on personal expenses, like trips to Disney World in Orlando and trips to see college football games, prosecutors said.
The executive’s duties included developing and implementing marketing strategies. In that role, he had the authority to charge expenses for travel, meals, entertainment and promotional items like iPods, gift cards and Sirius satellite radios to his corporate American Express card, prosecutors said.
