Mahindra To Grow In Brazil

India’s Mahindra will establish a new tractor manufacturing facility in Brazil. The plant will be constructed in Dois Irmãos city, in Rio Grande do Sul state, according to Eduard Roosli, CEO of Bramont, which is part of Grupo Gildemeister and is the company responsible for Mahindra’s sales in the region.

The plant will be housed within an existing 43,000 sq. ft. facility that will eventually be expanded to approximately 107,000 sq. ft. Initial production will be approximately 1,000 units a year in the first stage, rising to 5,000 to 8,000 units a year later, Roosli said. The total investment will be approximately $50 million.

“We will manufacture tractors between 42hp and 92hp of the current line and new models will be added,” said Roosli. “The plant will ultimately have a production capacity of up to 15,000 units a year through expansion. The products manufactured in Brazil will be destined to the domestic market in the first moment.”
