Man on Tractor Cannot Outrun Police
A suburban man on a tractor led police on a low-speed chase through two Central Illinois counties last week.
A sheriff’s department report said officers spotted a 29-year-old driving a large farm tractor erratically through a subdivision. When police tried to stop him, he refused to brake and instead rode his tractor along roads, farm fields and open grass areas. He at one point tried to strike a police car with the tractor, the sheriff’s office said. He failed.
The chase hit an estimated top speed of 22 mph before it ended when the man on the tractor was bested by a narrow bridge.
