News On The EFCA
The “Employee Free Choice Act” (EFCA), which would eliminate the union secret ballot elections in favor of “card check” system, has not yet been introduced, though advocates of the legislation continue to press for prompt action. Rumors say that House Education & Labor Committee Chairman George Miller (D-CA) wants to secure at least 218 cosponsors, a simple majority of the House, before introducing the bill.
The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is urging its members to contact their lawmakers. New resources have been added to the NAM’s EFCA toolkit at
www.nam.org/efca, including a side-by-side analysis that compares current law and changes proposed by EFCA. Just click on “Additional EFCA Resources”.
