Oklahoma Legislative Update
Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry has signed a bill into law that adds forestry, construction, industrial, maintenance and paving equipment to the current buyback and warranty laws. This bill was supported by the SouthWestern Association and was not opposed by this association. The bill becomes law on November 1, 2009.
With just a few days left in this year’s legislative session an additional measure is still pending that makes it a violation of state law to coerce any dealer into a refusal to purchase equipment manufactured by another supplier. The bill goes on to say, “It shall not be a violation of this section to require separate facilities, financial statements or sales staff for major competing lines so long as the dealer is given at least three years’ notice of such requirement.”
This measure is also supported by the SouthWestern Association and is not opposed by this association.
