Organizations Urge Depreciation Bonus

Forty-one U.S. organizations signed a letter to President Obama and Congress urging reinstatement of the depreciation bonus and increased Sec. 179 expensing levels. Signatories represented a cross section of the business community.

In adding the Farm Equipment Manu-facturers Association’s name to the list of organizations supporting these changes, the organization’s President, John McCoy of Orthman Manufacturing Co. said, “Our Association Members are known for bringing choice, value and innovation to agriculture. These incentives will encourage our member companies to invest in newer, safer, more efficient, and more environmentally-friendly equipment.”

McCoy added, “Our member companies, located in rural communities across this nation, provide hundreds of thousands of manufacturing jobs and represent an industry we need to grow to see a recovery in our economy. I urge the President and Congress to act quickly to reinstate these important incentives.”

The letter was sent to the White House, House and Senate leadership, and the Ways and Means and Finance committees.
