Salford Acquires Airflo

When an Indiana farmer in 2007 paired a Salford I-1100 with a Valmar 2455 to plant rye grass, it began a partnership that reached a new level last week when Salford Group acquired Valmar Airflo, Inc.

Salford manufactures primary and secondary tillage equipment and seeding and fertilizer application equipment. Valmar designs and manufactures granular applicators and seeders.

Since that pairing in 2007, farmers have become increasingly interested in cover crop seeding, and the companies have responded by collaborating to offer effective cover crop tools.

The Manitoba location will be the fifth for the Salford Group, adding to operations in Salford, Ontario; Osceola, Iowa; Cornelia, Georgia; and Omsk, Russia. Valmar will continue to produce equipment in its Elie, Manitoba facility and will become a parts distribution center.
