Union Card Check
As most shortline manufacturing managers are aware, with a Democratic administration now in the White House and commanding majorities in both the U.S. House and Senate, this year unions are making a major effort at passing a “card check” system so that, rather than voting on union representation through a secret ballot, only an employee’s signature will be necessary to seek union representation.
The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), www.nam.org, strongly urges manufacturers to contact their senators and representatives opposing card check. NAM said, “Under this system, employees’ signatures are made public to the employer, the union organizers and coworkers.” Members who wish to contact their state’s congressmen to oppose such legislation, please go to www.nam.org/efca for more information.
