GKN Rebuilds Plant, Triples Production
GKN Wheels & Structures has rebuilt its manufacturing facility and is now producing three times as many wheels as it did at its former plant.
The company described the project at its Telford, U.K., operation as an “ambitious, multi-million pound investment.”
The new manufacturing plant produces 55 off-highway wheels every hour.
An announcement from the company said that virtually all that remains of the former plant is the structure of the building. The production line has been re-built, with new rim lines, robotic weld cells and a state-of-the-art finishing plant.
“The factory is quite simply unrecognizable from what it was just a couple of years ago, and we now have a modern, 21st-century manufacturing facility,” said Darren Dobson, head of operations at Telford.
