Vermeer Corporation plans to schedule intermittent shutdowns across individual U.S. facilities in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting reduction in product demand.
“While Vermeer equipment and customers serve markets deemed critical to daily life by the Department of Homeland Security, these markets are seeing a softening as are many industries around the world,” the company said.
Vermeer plans to balance production demand by scheduling intermittent week-long shutdowns.
“While there is no playbook on how to manage through a worldwide crisis,” the statement said, “Vermeer is committed to making decisions that keep our business and our workforce as healthy and whole as possible, not just today, but long into the future.”
