Year Begins with Changes in Distribution Landscape

Two family-owned Deere dealerships in north central Illinois have merged.
Holland & Sons Inc. and Kelly Sauder Rupiper Equipment LLC have formed an eight-location Deere dealer group. The merger aims to enhance each entity’s ability to serve homeowners, landscapers and farmers, a statement said.

The new organization will operate as Prairie State Tractor LLC and employ more than 200 people. Prairie State Tractor will be the Deere dealer for the territory as far west as the Mississippi River, extending up to the Wisconsin border and down into Central Illinois.

Dealerships will continue to operate out of Mendota, Streator, Princeton, Pontiac, Dixon, Freeport, Geneseo and Lacon, Ill. The Mendota location will serve as the corporate headquarters.

Iowa-based Deere dealer group Van Wall has purchased Horizon Equipment’s locations. Van Wall Equipment now has 31 locations, 28 of which are in Iowa. The group also has dealerships in Rock Island, Ill., Omaha, Neb., and Lenexa, Kan.

Hayward Distributing has completed the acquisition of J.S. Woodhouse. Charles J. Reilly from Woodhouse will continue as general manager at least through the season. Bill and Bob Reilly, also from Woodhouse, are expected to stay for a couple of months to assist with the transition. The remainder of the J.S. Woodhouse team is expected to remain in place.

H&R Agri-Power and Farmers Supply Company will join forces this year. Both businesses have locations in Lawrenceburg, Tenn. Further details of the merger will be announced soon concerning any changes or updates with the operations. H&R Agri-Power has 17 farm implement locations throughout Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Illinois, and Indiana.
