German BMW Workers To Get Special Bonus
Luxury car maker BMW AG said it is set to pay its German workers a special bonus this month to reward their commitment and performance during the economic crisis, Manufacturing.Net reports. BMW said the payment will average euro 1,060 ($1,360) per employee. Most of the company’s 70,000 workers in Germany will get the bonus.
Spokesman Michael Rebstock said the cost would be in the “higher two-figure millions” of euros. The announcement comes three days after BMW raised 2010 sales and earnings forecasts, citing a global market recovery and strong demand for new models. Chief employee representative Manfred Schoch said there were worries only half a year ago about how to use its capacity and secure jobs, and workers “stood up for the company with stamina and commitment.”
