Tillage Council Meeting to Feature Guest Speaker Ron Heck
Once again our Tillage Product Council has landed a superb speaker for our Spring Conference. Ron Heck will serve as our special guest speaker at the Tillage Council meeting on Tuesday afternoon, which will be moved to a larger ballroom to allow ample space for all of our registered attendees.
Mr. Heck has enjoyed a long and productive career as a volunteer leader for agricultural and renewable fuels organizations. He serves on the Iowa Biodiesel Board as a representative of the Iowa Soybean Association (ISA), of which he’s been a member since 1975. He also currently serves on the Steering Committee for 25×25, an organization that works toward providing 25% of the total energy consumed in the U.S. from renewable resources by 2025.
Mr. Heck has served on many boards and held national leadership positions, including a term as chairman of the American Soybean Association from 2004-2005. He is past president of ISA, and was a director on the National Biodiesel Board for 10 years.
In August 2002, he finished a term on the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Department of Energy’s Biomass Research and Development Technical Advisory Committee. In September 2002, he completed a term on the Chicago Reserve Board Advisory Committee for Agriculture, Labor and Small Business.
In addition to serving in leadership roles for agriculture policy, Heck continues to find time to farm soybeans and corn in Perry, Iowa.
We can’t imagine a more well-rounded speaker to not only address tillage issues, but to also provide his perspective on the recently passed farm bill and its impact on growers’ purchasing decisions in the coming years.
